It turned out to be a structure this App could not understand. I redid the UnityChan.FBX with Adobe's Mixamo, and now it works. I suspect incompatible versions of the FBX SDK?? Anyway, it seems to work pretty well, but (1) could use better error handling and (2) a 'quick-tip' help to assists in the navigation for new users (like me!).
