Pioneer Bd Rw Bdr 205 Drivers For Mac

I just got off the phone with Pioneer regarding the incompatibility of the BDR 206 that Videoguys.com sells as their mac compatible Blu Ray burner.Long story short. The support tech on the phone said that the Pioneer BDR 206 Blu Ray drives is in no way compatible with Macs, at all. He says they might work but wouldn't be surprised if they did not. He also stated that they are not made to work with macs, only PC's are in the R&D cycle. The phone tech was great and honest about Mac compatibility and said I could send it in and they would replace the drive but that it would probably do the same thing, but the decision was up to me. Videoguys.com offered no help and said it should work fine?

Videoguys.com could not confirm a working BluRay device in an external enclosure using a Macbook Pro, yet they recommend them. How quaint.Anyone want to buy a working like-new Pioneer BDR 206 BluRay burner for PC cheap? Oh the firmware is updated to the latest 1.05CrippleBook Pro 2.3Ghz i7, 8GB ram, SLeopard 10.6.8, FCPStudio 3, QT 7. The Pioneer support tech is WRONG! We have hundreds, perhaps even thousands, of Pioneer Blu-ray owners working with Macs. The Mac OS will NOT see or recognize a blu-ray burner.

You can't play a blu-ray disc on a Mac. To burn a Blu-ray requires using the FCP7 share command, Adobe Encore or Roxio Toast. Our external BDR-206 kit works great with iMacs and MacBook Pros. Some users do report issues with eSata, which we believe is a compatibility issue with some 3rd party eSata cards. When used with USB2 you will great results.GaryCOW members get 5% OFF with Coupon COW5OFF800 323-2325 We are the video editing and production experts! 'which we believe is a compatibility issue with some 3rd party eSata cards'Which cards are you having problems with exactly? That is the question I asked you on the phone.

The BDR-206 is the next generation Blu-ray Disc Writer from Pioneer. This Internal BD/DVD/CD Writer will write up to 12x on BD-R (25Gbytes) and BD-R DL (50Gbytes) media. It allows users to author high-definition Blu-ray Disc content while also delivering the ability for high-capacity data storage.

You said you can't be sure which express cards works or were tested? How do you qualify your above statement of some 3rd party eSata cards?Tell me specifically which one, of the some, that you tested as working with this burner through eSata. I will buy that one.' You can't play a blu-ray disc on a Mac'Yes you can. Use 'Mac Blu Ray Player' software. The Pioneer support is wrong? All they said is that they do not recognize the Mac platform as anything that their product will work on.

They are surprised that it even functions.I know kids that put playing cards in their spokes, the cards are not even meant to go there. Do they work? Marginally well, given that they were not designed to be used on a bicycle.CrippleBook Pro 2.3Ghz i7, 8GB ram, SLeopard 10.6.8, FCPStudio 3, QT 7.

Eric,The bottom line is that we have been selling the BDR-205 and now the 206 to Mac customers. Thousands of them - with very little support issues. Pioneer knows this very well, but as they told you, they do not officially have any Mac support. Yet, they also helped me put together our bundles with Roxio Toast. So they are supporting our bundling and promoting the BDR-206 for Mac.Most of our Mac customers use USB, because Mac Books and iMacs do not have native eSata support. I have not had complaints about burn speeds before yours. As I said in another post (possibly on another COW forum), we do not have a list of approved eSata cards, nor have we tested the BDR-206 w.

Vantec enclosure under Lion. OWC sells the drives as well, all for Mac. I will try and figure out what enclosure they are using.I think the issue is with the Vantec and Lion, but it will take us some time to figure that out for sure.

We have customers using the Vantec eSata card, but once again, I don't know that this is under Lion. Also as I said in other threads, please give me a call. I was not in on Friday, so I am not familiar with you exact details.GaryCOW members get 5% OFF with Coupon COW5OFF800 323-2325 We are the video editing and production experts! It's a good thing I do not use Lion then. I am still using the archaic Snow Leopard. Your support team knows this. I believe it was you whom I spoke with last Thursday, unless there is another Bary that works at Videoguys.com.

I will try to call you again ASAP.I do not know anyone who edits that uses Lion at this point. Virtually nothing works correctly in Lion without a few gotchas. So I posit my query yet again. What eSata cards are you using to test with that give better than 1x burn speed and have eSata support. Please also include the list of failed tested cards.

I do not want to use nor waste my money on any of the cards that you tested which failed under Videoguys.com guidelines for success.CrippleBook Pro 2.3Ghz i7, 8GB ram, SLeopard 10.6.8, FCPStudio 3, QT 7. I'm one of those Mac user customers who bought the Pioneer BDR-206 (OEM). This was about a year and a half ago, when I was still using Snow Leopard. The drive would dismount constantly, forcing me to open the MacPro and physically disconnect and reconnect the drive. After this, I had to reboot the computer and the drive would mount again. The problem was solved after I upgraded the drive firmware.

Now I'm using Lion and I'm having the same problem again. I was hoping that a firmware upgrade would fix the problem but Pioneer has not released any more firmwares. Hey Erik,We am having trouble also with the 206 we bought last week from Videoguys, but for us, I do not think it is a Videoguys issue. Encore sees the drive fine, and burned discs do show up on the desktop, but when we go to copy the master in a Blu-ray tower from Microboards, it does not read the disc correctly.

Microboards says it is an Encore issue.I am still waiting for clarification from Microboards, but they broadly said it was a 'burning ROM' issue inside Encore; I'm not real sure how to interperate that.FWIW, our masters do play fine on Panasonic and Sony consumer grade players, and we had the exact same problem with a Sony 100 burner. As regards Gary and Videoguys.com, I think they're just stuck in the middle. BTW Gary, it would have been nice to include a note that you have to.build. the drive - the adverts all make it look like it's preassembled. Maybe I missed the note.- Bruce Colgate. Hi All:Was wondering if anyone had solved this issue of not burning on the Pioneer player. I have the 205 using the Nexstar Dx inclosure and am using Encore in cs5.5. Encore recognizes the player but when I insert a disc it won't recognize that there is a disc in the player.

It keeps asking me to insert a disc when there is one in it. I have hooked up the player on three different machines, all having cs5.5 and I get the same problem. I have tried using different discs and no luck.Distressing since Videoguys does say this works with macs and authors BRDs. Would love to know if anyone has found a solution.thanks;Kevin Gonzales. No resolution yet. The going is slow. There doesn't seem to be much communication between the sales and warranty departments. They are wanting me to ship a piece at a time back and see which piece is causing the problem.

That could get expensive really quick as Videoguys.com is expecting me to pay shipping for the goods that do not work. My problem does inherently lie with the products, not necessarily Videoguys. Videoguys just sells the products to us. The problem is that there is no testing of product going on, they just package stuff for us, tell us it works and sometimes it does.If I do it their way I will be paying $50 shipping for $120 of goods.

Mitsubishi outlander 2017 owners manual. The shipping ratio would increase if the new product they send back to me does not work.I have asked repeatedly for the exact express cards that were 'tested' as working on the Macbook Pro. Still no answers yet. We do not know what products they authorized this stuff to work on. I just want to know what they tested as working.CrippleBook Pro 2.3Ghz i7, 8GB ram, SLeopard 10.6.8, FCPStudio 3, QT 7. I can tell you where we are in this.On this older Mac Pro (a 2,1 model), we have the 206 in the DX enclosure as sold by VideoGuys.

We're using CS5 just now. It is connected through a D-Link USB 2.0 hub.CS5 (and the OS - 10.6.8, IIRC) recognize the drive. On this most recent project, we compiled the Blu-ray project (20GB) to an ISO file first, and then, when complete, burned the ISO to the shiny disc using Encore; we didn't close the project between operations, though I'm sure it would have been fine if we had.The resulting master plays fine, and does duplicate properly in Microboards equipment.By way of suggestion to your problem Erik, is the 206 connected directly to the CPU, or is there a hub involved? A long shot, but, it has happend to me that a hub has corrupted.some. data on the way through. It was a very soft error, only happened sometimes, and only with some equipment. Replacing the hub, or connecting directly, resolved the issue.

YMMV, but I hope it helps.Best,- Bruce Colgate. The drive is connected directly to the USB port.

This works though only at 1x speed max.Or, the drive is connected through the express port via Sonnet Pro eSata card. The drive is not recognized this way.

If a swap out the BluRay burner for a hard drive, the drive is recognized through the eSata port on the enclosure. This tells me that the drive is incompatible with the enclosure.Videoguys says that, based on this information, that the enclosure is most likely the culprit. I do not follow that logic. Videoguys wanted me to send them the enclosure, at my cost, then they would ship me a new enclosure. Then if the BluRay burner still is not recognized through the eSata port, then I would ship them the BluRay burner, at my cost, and see if that fixes the problem.I have asked Videoguys to just tell me what I need to buy to get this to work.

I can't get an answer. I have a feeling that there is no solution and that I will be stuck with this stuff that is not really fully compatible with my MacBook Pro. I just don't think they have ever tested a working solution, yet sell the stuff anyway.CrippleBook Pro 2.3Ghz i7, 8GB ram, SLeopard 10.6.8, FCPStudio 3, QT 7.

Drives were fine until I installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Before my hard drive crashed, I was using Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. The computer was built by a local shop so I don't know if they did something special to get drives running, but the drivesare listed as compatible with Win 7.The Drives are:PIONEER BDR-205 Blu-rayPIONEER DVR-218L DVDMy motherboard is ASUS P6TD Deluxe, BIOS 0106I'm very disabled and rely heavily on my computer to function.
